RESTORATIVE TREATMENTS
Are you missing a tooth? Do you have a tooth that is damaged or discoloured? Gaps between your teeth can cause discomfort while speaking and eating. At Smilecare Dentistry, Dr. Koo and his team focuses on restoring the functions of your teeth. We provide a variety of treatments including, dental implants, crowns, bridges, and dentures to improve the appearance of your smile.
DENTAL IMPLANTS
Dental implants offer the most advanced and permanent solution for replacing misisng teeth. A surgically placed screw in your jawbone serves as a sturdy foundation for artificial teeth such as, crowns, bridges, or dentures, mimicking the function of your natural teeth.
When considering implants, it’s crucial to select a dentist with professional training. Dr. Koo possesses a Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the Misch International Implant Institute, ensuring you expertise in implant dentistry.
TYPES OF IMPLANTS
DENTAL CROWNS
A dental crown is utilized to restore a decayed tooth by fitting a custom-made porcelain or metal piece over the damage tooth. Porcelain crowns are popular due to their ability to match the natural colour of teeth, enhancing the overall appearance of your smile. Additionally, crowns can serve various functions, including protecting a tooth following a root canal treatment, anchoring a dental bridge, or completing a dental implant.
DENTAL BRIDGES
A bridge is recommended when you have multiple teeth missing in a row. Similar to a crown, it relies on existing teeth as anchors to support and fill the space of the missing teeth. This fixed dental restoration can last up to 10 years with proper care. Bridges not only restore function and aesthetics but also help alleviate excess grinding, prevent natural teeth from shifting, and enhance facial symmetry.
FULL AND PARTIAL DENTURES
If you are missing multiple teeth in dental arch, dentures are artificial teeth designed to replace them. These removable oral appliances are tailored to meet your specific needs, and we recommend two types:
-
Full dentures are the most common type and it replaces an entire dental arch. Depending on the health of your natural teeth, we may recommend replacing one or both dental arches. Professional denture adhesive is used to ensure stability.
-
Partial dentures are used to replace only one section of your dental arch. They are recommended when some healthy and natural teeth remain intact. Partial dentures are typically stabilized with a thin network of clasps attached to the remaining teeth
RELIEVING ANXIETY?
Do the words "dental appointment" cause butterflies in your stomach? We have several techniques that will help you relax. During procedures, ask for nitrous oxide, a.k.a. "laughing gas". It does not put you to sleep and you will still be able to see, hear and respond to questions. It is a safe method to help you stay calm and comfortable.
For others, the sound of the dental instruments can make them tense. We recommend putting on a pair of headphones and listen to your favourite tunes on your phone. With all our procedures, we are committed to and uncompromising in our adherence to infection control. We will always prioritize your health and safety!
